George W. Prichard was born on August 5, 1850 in New Harmony, Indiana. He received his law degree from the University of Michigan in 1872. In 1879 he moved to New Mexico, making Las Vegas his home. He served as senator from San Miguel County (1887-1889). In 1902, he became district attorney for Socorro, Lincoln, Chaves and Eddy counties.
